
Primary amyloid myelopathy is a rare neurological disorder characterized by the accumulation of amyloid proteins in the spinal cord. This progressive condition typically manifests with progressive paresthesia in the limbs, often accompanied by spasticity. In this case report, we present a subject with primary amyloid myelopathy who presented displaying an unusual clinical manifestation.
The patient's initial symptoms included impaired grip strength, along and bladder dysfunction. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis revealed elevated protein levels consistent with amyloid deposits. Neuroimaging studies demonstrated characteristic lesions in the spinal cord consistent with primary amyloid myelopathy.
The patient was treated supportive care, including physical therapy and medications to manage symptoms. Despite treatment, the patient's condition deteriorated significantly. This case underscores the importance of considering primary amyloid myelopathy in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with progressive neurological symptoms, particularly those with focal motor deficits.
An Uncommon Presentation of Crohn's Disease: A Case Report
We describe a unique case of Crohn's disease in a 28-year-old male presenting with novel symptoms. The patient initially described manifestations of fatigue, which were mistaken for a common gastrointestinalcondition. Further investigation revealed inflammatory bowel disease. The patient received standard treatment for Crohn's disease, including immunomodulators. The prognosis to treatment was positive.
This case highlights the significance of a thorough clinical evaluation in patients with suspected Crohn's disease, as its symptoms can be varied.
Presentation
A male/female patient presented to the clinic with a chief complaint/history of symptoms/presenting concern of progressive shortness of breath, cough/dyspnea/respiratory distress. The patient reported a gradual/sudden/insidious onset of symptoms/complaints/manifestations, worsening over the past few months/year/decade. On physical examination, auscultation/palpation/inspection revealed decreased breath sounds in the lower/upper/bilateral lung fields.
Further/Additional/Supplementary investigations included a chest X-ray which demonstrated diffuse/patchy/interstitial opacities consistent with pulmonary fibrosis. A high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan of the chest confirmed the diagnosis, revealing honeycombing/fibrotic bands/reticular opacities.
The patient underwent further tests/evaluation/assessments to rule out other potential causes/contributing factors/underlying conditions of pulmonary fibrosis.
